GOD HEARS OUR PRAYERS As Catholics, we light votive candles to pray for our deceased loved ones and the sick, for the health and welfare of family and friends, and the intentions and needs of all in the world, particularly the poor and most abandoned. When we light a votive candle, it is also a way of strengthening our prayer intention and expressing our support the those for whom we are praying.
At St. Gerald, this important Catholic tradition continues. Let us always be reminded, that when we celebrate our sacred liturgies, sacraments and special prayers, Christ, the Source of all Light, shall come to us to be ever present to strengthen us, instruct us, inspire us and give us hope that His Light will never burn out as long as we live in faith without a shadow of doubt that darkness will ever defeat us.
All are welcome to light a votive candle. We ask that for safety reasons, please do not leave prayer cards, pictures, statues, flowers, etc. near the votive candles, unless permission given by the Pastor.
