In March 2019, our Parish Community was brought to an abrupt halt. With a quick technical thought process, many phone calls and the volunteers who stepped up to do what Jesus has asked all of us to do “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 our Media Ministry began to take shape.
The first mass was livestreamed from the chapel in the Convent on March 15, 2020. We are forever grateful to the Carmelite Sisters and Father Michael Flynn, who week after week allowed us to virtually share in the celebration of mass at St. Gerald.
As of today, we have streamed over 130 masses at St. Gerald.
In March 2021, our Pastor had a vision of installing two large TVs in the church to serve as visual aids with the prayers and songs, giving us the opportunity to share more fully in the mass.
Today, the Media Ministry continues to support our parish mission of bringing Christ’s presence and love, through our mass by utilizing the various methods of technology available.
What does the Media Ministry do?
Use a PowerPoint Presentation on the TVs at the weekend masses
Create and share posts on social media
The skills necessary to operate technology can be taught. If you have a heart for sharing the gospel, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to showing up and getting the job done we invite you to become part of the Media Ministry.
A very special thank you to our ministries, organizations and parishioners who have generously donated to the success of sharing the gospel.
It’s easy to contact the Media Ministry by calling the Parish Office at 708.422.0234, emailing media@stgerald.com or sending a message to St. Gerald Church thru facebook.
