PRELUDE MUSIC - The prelude usually begins 15 minutes before the ceremony while the guests are gathering in their seats in the church. Typically, the music may be instrumental or with vocalists and it creates a celebration atmosphere.
PROCESSIONAL - The processional music is heard when the bridal party and then the bride make their entrance. This may be one song with a pause before the bride enters. Two songs may be selected, one for the bridal party and one for the bride. This is usually an instrumental selection.
RESPONSORIAL PSALM - The Responsorial Psalm expresses the worshipers' response to the Word of God. It usually is brief and with a simple refrain so the assembly can join in on the response.
UNITY CANDLE - After the vows and rings are exchanged, while the lighting of the unity candle or sand ceremony is taking place a brief vocal piece or instrumental piece should be selected.
PREPARATION OF THE GIFTS - As the gifts of bread and wine are presented a brief vocal or instrumental piece is recommended.
SIGN OF PEACE/FLOWERS TO THE PARENTS - As the bride and groom share the sign of peace with their parents and bridal party a vocal piece or instrumental piece is appropriate.
COMMUNION - As the bride, groom, bridal party and guests are receiving communion, a vocal piece or an instrumental piece should be selected, preferably a piece having to do with receiving the Eucharist.
MARY'S SHRINE/HOLY FAMILY - The piece selected should reflect on the Blessed Mother.
RECESSIONAL - After the presentation of the couple, the bride and groom exit to this music, followed by the bridal party and family members. Usually and instrumental selection, the piece should reflect joy and celebration.
POSTLUDE - While the guests are exiting the pews after the ceremony, music is also played continuing a celebration atmosphere.
